Even if you are not an auto racing fan, you might enjoy the Netflix series "Formula 1". Worth watching even if just for the video taken from the cars themselves riding the tracks at 200 mph. Worth watching for sure.

Been an F1 fan for years. That and Indy cars on a road course, as well as SCCA racing in all it's flavors. Remember the Trans-Am series with Mak Donohue in the Penske Camaro and George Follmer in the Mustang? My all time favorite was the old Can-Am series. When the ground shakes as the cars pass, you know it's serious.

We used to go the the Formula 1 races when they held them on the streets of Long Beach, CA. The ear-splitting sound of those cars at 220 MPH was just mind boggling.

The first couple of years at LB, you could get in for free on a couple of the practice/prelim days. The pits weren't open to the public, but separated only by short k-walls, so you could get pretty close and see what was going on. That was really fun. Mid-'70s when they were still running "drive it yourself" cars, my favorite race car of all time was Mario Andretti's black and gold John Player Special Lotus. Like today, the cars were rolling advertising billboards. Unlike today, there was more artwork involved. I guess we should be thankful F1 hasn't turned into the graffiti jungle of NASCAR.
BTW, fans of the Long Beach GP will certainly remember the unmistakable voice of their announcer, Bruce Flanders. Sadly, we lost Bruce in August, 2020. About 12 years ago he was diagnosed with COPD and the doctors told him he probably had about 18 months to live. He put up a heckuva fight! Bless you, Bruce.

Back in those Long Beach F1 days I was a real F1 fan. It was interesting to talk to oval track race car fans, and try to explain how exhilarating it was to watch those F1 street races compared to stock car races. More often than not, I was met with just a blank stare.

My OP wasn't about Formula 1 racing itself, but about the series of that title on Netflix. As I said, interesting to watch even if NOT an auto racing fan.

My first F1 race was the Questor Grand Prix at the Ontario Motor Speedway. Those 18,000 rpm V12s hurt your ears way out in the parking lot. I have watched F1 ever since and Monaco was on the bucket list. Hamilton and his BLM BS has taken it off my radar and I could no longer care less. Both NASCAR and Indy have lost me because they are nothing but spec races.
I've been running at Cobra Club track days since the mid eighties in various Mustangs and Shelbys. I recently bought a 1997 tube frame Mustang TransAm car.
