Back in the day, I wanted him to run for President; I thought that highly of him. When he did, I remember him saying that he really didn't care if he won or not. He dropped out of the race. One of the good guys has passed away. There's not many politicians like him anymore... :(

I both truly admired and respected Sen. Thompson and his record. But as far as his Presidential asperations, he kind of reminds me of the kid that asks for a special gift for Christmas, he gets it(Presidential run), plays with it for about an hour, tires of it and then moves on. RIP Sen. Thompson

Hi,

I liked Mr. Thompson on screen and Sen. Thompson on Capitol Hill. As others have already said, he WAS one of the good guys. Rest in peace, Sir!

The reason he dropped out of the race was because of the cancer that eventually killed him.

Spoken for truth and it was when the press got wind of it and they demonized him for his illness.

Thanks for relating this, I wasn't aware of it.
