Well, another gun I swore I never would own another of is Taurus. But I been looking for a .22 DA revolver that don't cost an arm and a leg. Finding a decent DA .22 is really hard to do these days! I had a 2 inch SP101, and it was ok, but I really wanted something with a longer barrel, at least a 4 inch. I really wanted a Smith, but most are 1K or more, and I just can't even begin to justify spending that much. I did run across a GP100 in .22, used for $600 yesterday, but I just couldn't even make myself buy that one either. Last gun shop I went to had this Taurus Tracker in .22LR. Now, I aint a Taurus guy, and have not owned one for many years. But, the guy knocked 30 bucks off what he was asking (which wasn't bad to begin with!) so I went ahead and bought it. Have put at least 500 rounds of assorted brands through it since yesterday, and the dang thing shoots better than I can. It's quite a bit heavier than I really wanted, and the trigger pull sucks, especially in DA, but I will work on that later. The bluing on it is not bad at all either, better than 90% of the blued Ruger guns I own, or have owned. I have 2 Single Sixes and a Wrangler, and I think this one has them beat accuracy wise. Now my Mark 2 target will still outshoot it, but not by much. Overall, I am pleased and pleasantly surprised with this gun.

My brother has one, it shoots well also.
A friend of mine loaned her pickup to me for a week while mine was in the shop and would not let me pay her for its use. She mentioned once that she would like to have a 22 pistol so I bought her the Taurus semiautomatic and that little gun amazed me, accurate and reliable! They have come a long way!

We have one of the 5 shot .45 LC snub nose revolvers. Works just fine and no complaints. We keep it handy with some shotshells for when the copperheads and time to time rattlesnake appears in the yard too close to the house where either of us or pets may be walking around out there.

I bought a Taurus Model 431 in .44 special, 3" barrel, fixed sights. Very nice gun, and my wife shoots it double action better than I can. It's my nightstand gun, loaded with Silvertips. 😁

I'm a fan of the older Taurus revolvers.

I had (around 2000 - 2003) ALL of the Taurus snubby revolvers, 357, 41 mag, 44 Special and 45 Colt. Well the silly things were smooth and nice to shoot and that 45 Colt got your attention with factory velocity ammo. Of course I don't have them but a local shop in my town has a 45 Colt one but he wants 700.00!

Sorry to hijack, I'm a fan of the older Taurus and a shop about 45 minutes away has an older 44 special "medium" frame for a great price. If I make enough money at the gun show next month and he still has it I'll probably go and get it.

🎶 looking for love in all the wrong places 🎶

not to be capt.hindsight but...

lots of really nice homeless model 17 and model 18 Smiths out there can be had in the $500-$1k range with patient shopping.

any K-22 target masterpieces or K-22 combat masterpiece will shoot the socks off a taurus, just sayin'

and they're beautiful and collectable! heck I have a model 34 guaranteed to put a grin on your face.

this is something I find most ironic in a forum comprised of a majority of older folks - the big attraction to new manufacture when there's so many great used options out there.

especially when looking for a good shooter on a budget.

didn't say what the taurus set you back but hopefully the deal was worth the compromises you mentioned - good luck!

Please do not compare a vintage Rossi to Taurus just because Rossi was owned by Taurus for a short time much later. I too had a stainless Rossi and a gift and it was stolen.

The triggers can be fixed really nicely on those regardless of brand. I did my .38 Special up really nicely before it got ganked.

Getting that piece, with the spring, back in the frame can be a chore sometimes 😉
