My son is an avid fly fisherman. He recently purchased a nice Kimber .38 to start taking along.
Things have been getting a little strange in the world and he wants to take along a little security.
What would be the best way to carry and still have easy access?
Thanks+++

Lots of people prefer a holster that sits squarely against the front of their chest about solar plexus level. That mounts the handgun high enough to be out of the water when you wade, and out of the way when you're casting. There are numerous options at reasonable prices on Amazon, some that conceal the weapon from casual view. I prefer a nylon pack cloth rig for use around water.

I have several "DIAMOND D "chest holsters.
I highly recommend them.
They make the chest holster in leather. And a nylon, that I also have. Check out their videos. I think you might like them.

I have no connection with Diamond D holsters other than being a satisfied customer.

I guess much depends on the laws in your State. In Florida open carry is illegal EXCEPT while fishing and of course hunting. If you have to conceal then it's no different than it would be carrying while downtown?

When fishing with my being left handed I hold the rod in my left hand, and I shoot right handed and carry cross draw fishing. Being left handed I could also easily carry strong side because the rod is not a concern getting the revolver into play.

I guess right handed people have problems I do not :)

I had my dad make a regular strong side holster for an old fishing guide in Montana to pack his .455 Webley (converted to .45acp) he carried it pushed around back over a kidney to stay out of the way. I loaded some cci .45 shot capsules with #9 shot for snakes to go in it for the first round. And then Elmer's 245 GR Keith style bullet he designed for loading the .45 auto rim. For the rest of the cylinder. All custom including the holster.

I have their Guides Choice chest rig for my 686 and it's as good as people say. I'm about to call and order just the holster to swap out for my 629. Save a small bit of cash and easy enough to swap back and forth.
I have their nylon version from their sister company for the heavy 5" 629 but the mass pulls it down some and it's a pain in the neck to adjust with the way they set them up.

I am also a big fan of Diamond D chest holsters. The one in the bottom left is a tanker holster made by El Paso Saddlery.
