just noticed this on Ruger.com... didnt know the supers came FLUTED. is this new? or am i just out of the loop?

AND I HAD A MASSIVE BRAINFART and misread what you asked in the first place !!!! i yi yi yi yi ....

AN intersting thing to note though is this, the first SBH I saw in 1958 had a fluted cylinder. the fellow that owned it was so perturbed by this he sent it in and SR,INC fitted a new UNfluted cylinder to it. Think what it would have been worth now to a collector.

Am I the only one who prefers fluted cylinders to unfluted? I kinda like my Bearcat the way it is though

I like em both. I love unfluted on a double action. Prefer fluted on a single action tho...

Supers first came out in 59. I believe all 44 mag Flattops were fluted......but I was wrong once.

I do indeed prefer fluted on ANY SA sixgun. They just look sort of un-finished with smoooth sided cylinders, as it were. Sort of like SS guns also looked like they missed a trip though the bluing tanks, or something.
Yep, you are right the SBH did come out in 1959; what was I thinking ? That first one I saw was bought in a BX/PX in germany and was brought back by a 10TH SF trooper and that might well make it 1960 now that I think even more on it.
