Flatgate custom 9"

I picked this up in forum classifieds a few years back. Illustrates the interest/ease of customization of Ruger revolvers over the years/decades. I've done a few myself over the years, but can't claim credit for this one which I think is pretty cool:

Makes me wonder with a SN# like that if it was used for the special barrel project.

I aquired SN# 30900, it was well used, but in good "worn" condition.
A lot of the 30800 range of guns were factory engraved guns.
Have always wanted an Engraved Flatgate, but I'm not a collector,,, I am a shooting enthusiast.
The idea has been find an engraver that will engrave it "like" the guns in the 30800 range, But then shoot it and enjoy it.

Might have to think about a different barrel length,,, hmmmm

Not trying to pull a quick one, more having a gun like it's sisters.

An engraved shooting gun would be near perfection- and put a long barrel on it… Awesomeness!!

Indeed, an interesting gun. According to Dougan's book, #41200 would have been a 1956 gun and the 9-1/2" barrels didn't appear until 1959.

Whither came the long barrel, this is certainly a cool gun. Thanks for sharing.

When I plan to bid late, but miss the ending… I always tell myself that the winner would have bid me up beyond my max, anyway.

well If I hadn't all ready spent so much on several CVA single shot rifles , i probably would have been watching it closer . but on the up side of that I got them for some pretty decent prices , so how all i have to do is get them picked up this week at my FFL guy and then get them scoped and sighted in by summer so I can start a couple of the grand kids on center fire

There is a Lightweight Single-Six floating around out there somewhere as well with a 9-1/2" barrel and a barrel address with the eagle logo, like what was used for the Magnum Single-Six barrel logo.

Yes... exactly what I thought when I saw it. Had a bit of honest wear on the gun, but had this gun in my hand at a mid to late 1980's Monroeville, PA collector show. I can see somebody screwing a 9-1/2" barrel onto a Lightweight frame, but how did a 9-1/2" barrel get that rollmark with the logo, since that rollmark wasn't used until 1959. One of those barrels you know came out of the factory... but how do you prove what it came on originally??? Couldn't justify the price for something that can't be authenticated.
