First Report: Ruger LC9 Pocket Rocket

Surprised me today.

Shot the new LC9 for the first time.

cliffs:

VERY accurate for a mouse gun

Trigger is no problem...long, yes...but not a problem at all

Cycled FMJ and HP's without a hitch

Accidentally released the mag twice...NOT GOOD

Verdict:
Undetermined yet
Might add a CT laser and keep it unless I can't solve the mag release problem

Great shooting. Mine is very accurate as well. I haven't released the magazine accidently, but my hands may be smaller than yours.

I did have to adjust my grip a bit from the way I shoot other pistols.

Someone in another forum suggested a Hogue slip on grip to make the gun just a bit bigger in the hand. You might try that.

Sure conceals well.

But I have to somehow deal with this mag release issue.

Nice shooting! Strange hearing about a problem with dropping a magazine. :shock: I havn't had any problems at all with that.

I'm having a bit of trouble understanding your problem since I am unable to duplicate it unless I put my left thumb over the right thumb in a Weaver style grip and press down with it really hard.

Using the thumbs on top of each other grip I can't even reach the mag release with my thumb.

It's not my thumb that's reaching it.

I think it's the tip of my long, boney, index finger on my right hand.

I shoot with the classic, 1911 "thumb's forward" grip.

Not trying to start a Forum argument, but some have suggested their fingers are no where near the mag release when they hold the LC9.

I shoot a 1911, so below are pictures of my "muscle memory" hold.

During recoil and/or rapid fire it sure looks like one's fingers could very well contact the mag release.

It doesn't seem possible to make small hold adjustments in a gunfight.

And, if I have to change my pre-learned grip to shoot the LC9, well, that ain't gonna work for me.

What am I missing here?

Using the pad of the trigger finger instead of the distal joint might help keep that finger of the mag release...... just sayin

Good point...if you are using the joint, when you pull the trigger all the way to the rear, it may contact the mag release. It looks like you have larger hands, so try using the tip, and see if that helps.

Perhaps do some dry fire (with mag in and using snap caps) to see what your trigger finger position is.

Thanks, I do use the pad.

My gunsmith might be able to add some tension to the mag release spring.

I really want to carry this gun.

My lc9 is a higher serial number than yours and the release button is almost flush,i have to push it in with the tip of my forefinger for it to release.I wonder if ruger made a change during production?
