Didn't care for it. I'm not knocking it's reliability, it's just not for me. I like my SR9 a lot better and wouldn't trade straight across for the Glock..

I too find the SR9 superior to any Glock as far as feel goes. Unfortunately it seems Glock is much more reliable. My guns are fine, but every other day someone on this forum says their SR gun is malfunctioning, and I hardly ever read on the entire internet that a Glock is giving light strikes or other failures.

I had a couple of FTF before it was broke in, the last two outings, shot perfect...3 to 400 rounds...

Right out of the box, besides a proper cleaning before hand, my SR9 ran 350 rounds in one setting flawlessly, so I trust it no problem, but there sure is a lot of people with problems. I don't have them and I don't know why other people do...but they do.

My SR9 had maybe 3 malfs when I had it. It's still the only gun I've ever had that's malfunctioned. Mind you, all 3 were when it was new.

Also, after now owning a Glock for a few weeks I can honestly say they're not that great. I mean, they work but they're not special.

I don't own a Glock, nor have I ever...but honestly, "working" is "special", vs not working. :D

I still hesitate whether get a subcompact Glock or LC9 for my summer clothes CCW. I mean - the dimensions are nearly the same, while LC9 is significantly slimmer, but that's it. It's not even much cheaper here than Glocks, so I'm really not sure which one would end up in my pocket in the end.

"skinny" makes a huge difference in pocket carry for printing purposes. If you plan to pocket carry i would never recommend a double stack, or at least any double stack that i've seen as they're too bulky to not print in a pocket. IMO i woudnt put anything bigger than the LC9 as a pocket gun, as in most pants tit fits fine, but the draw still is much slower than an IWB holster, even if you have your hand in your pocket, at least for me anyway, some people out there may have never ending pockets.. For summer carry though, i highly recommend something small and slim, and at least .380 auto or bigger round.

As I say, I'm still thinking about it and still waiting to handle the LC9, will be available here next week.
I said "in my pocket" more like a joke...not sure if I would get used to pocket carrying a pistol, as I'm deeply used to carry a tactical folder in each of the front pockets. I'm more thinking about an IWB holster or a big enough belt pouch.

Yea true. But, with every gun I've owned I've found something special. The SR9 was a very good carry package, the XDm was high quality with tight lock up, the M&P has the best trigger.... The Glock is kinda meh. After trying a bunch of different parts on the trigger I can't get it to not suck. (the trigger)

I carried a Glock 19 when I was a Deputy Sheriff, and never had a problem with it. I also used it for Bowling pins and Steel Plates. No problems with all the rounds thru it. I still have it, but I shoot my P95 more, just prefer it over the Glock.

I carry a Gen 4 glock -22 as my duty weapon and it's dead stone reliable and plenty accurate enough for a defencive handgun ,but my department issue gun is the Gen 3 glock -22 and it just dosn't fit my hand so I had to buy my own .Now having said that yes there thick and boxy and ulgy to most folks ,but the work and to me thats all that counts .I haven't had the chance to shoot the Ruger ,but from the looks of it ,it looks like it would be eaiser to hit with just because it's thinner and I'm sure would fit my hand better than the glock .If I had my way I'd be carring my Kimber T.L.E.II .45ACP on duty ,but thats not my call .I shoot it better than any other pistol I own .I guess what I'm saying is you not liking the glock is fine I'm glad you like your Ruger ,glocks are kind of a love'em or hate 'em kind of gun I shoot mine well and like it for that reason ,but I'm like you in one sence I wouldn't take 10 glocks for my Kimber .If I had the money I'd have an LC9 too just because I want one along with an SR1911 ,I don't need one ,but hey it's a ruger and a 1911 best of both worlds .so don't feel bad about not liking a glock ,to each his own .Enjoy that LC9 I'm sure you'll get many ,many years of good service out of it .

I served on a SWAT team with about 1/2 the members armed with Glocks. Trust me, they had light strikes, stovepipes, fail to ejects, fail to feeds, fail to go into battery, you name it. Not saying they were any worse than the S&Ws, HKs, Sigs, Berrettas, or 1911s that were carried on the team. Seems they all had a hickup now and then with the various combat courses we put them through. But the Glocks definitely had their share of probs just like the rest.

Funny, not a single Ruger represented in the bunch. LE seems to shun Rugers for some reason.

Yeah, but the point was that there are 10,000 Glocks for every 1 SR Ruger, and I hear of more problems just on this board about SR's or other Rugers than every web site I've ever seen combined complaining about Glocks.

I don't like Glocks, so I don't like saying this, but the facts are the facts. My Rugers are good, but it would seem by reading forums that Rugers defect rate is about 5-10%, vs Glocks apparent .1% or so.

I get Glocks and the long track record and reliability they have, but to me part of owning guns is the sexiness of certain firearms. To me, Glocks are unsightly and I don't like the grip angle as well. I fired a Glock but I would never want to own one. Love my SR9c though!!! Over 500 rounds and not one malfunction as of yet.

Agreed, i'm not a Glock fan at all, never really liked them, but they are extremely reliable and very accurate in the right hands. There's SO many more glocks out there it's ridiculous since so many government agencies use them as their duty weapon, not to mention they have a great following of die hard fans, there's a lot out there just like you said and i'm on glocktalk occasionally and a couple other forums just to browse, and i just dont see the amount of complaints about problems/things not functioning properly and having to be sent back. And did i mention they're extremely reliable and proven? Again, i'm not a fan because i havent found one that i like the feel of and i just DO NOT like he way they look. Even though that has nothing to do with function, if i can get a gun that functions well AND looks good, i'll take the one that looks good too.

I carry an FNP-40 as my EDC weapon and so far i have ~3500 rounds through it with only 1 FTL, and that was within the first 100 rounds or so when the springs were still really tight. So since it's been broken in it hasnt had one failure and i've fed it almost everything. From break-in only 1 FTL. IMO these are very underrated guns since FN just started selling commercially within the past 7-8 years or so, people don't know them that well, at least people that havent been in the military or done their research, FNH has been making guns for the military for years! We're lucky to have them sart selling commercially IMO. I picked one up and honestly it's my favorite gun that i've fired, second is the springfield XD i like that gun a lot too. If my gun was striker fired it would be a perfect gun IMO, but you can't have everything. At least carrying it at half-cock reduces the trigger pull by a couple pounds and isnt too bad. Single action is really nice though, just a tiny bit of slack with a very light break, i'm super accurate with this gun IMO. @ ~25yds i buy a target with 20 3in. bullseyes on it and i can hit everyone of them in one shot most of the time. In a SD situation and doing double taps i can usually keep a ~5-6in. grouping @ ~25yds. Good enough IMO and the gun still looks brand new after 3500 rounds except for a couple cratches on the frame. The polymer they use isn't as durable as some of the other guns so it marks a bit easier i noticed. Other than that great gun (and i would prefer striker fired but again cant have it all, i didnt want all those damn safeties that come on the XD. My FNP only has a decocker, no afety no loaded chamber indicator.. Love it. ;)

LOL ... not really a fan of Glocks ... or any plastic pistol for that matter. I have 2 .... seriously thinking about selling them both.

They work perfectly, and are above average in accuracy., but I really don't like the shape at all

That's all I have to say about that ...... :D

I'm not a Glock fan (so far), don't like the looks of it much, don't really want to be part of all the tacticool madness around it, but...looking at measures, weight, reliability and durability, plus adding price and availability here, it's getting on top of my list by now.

Bennett, I honestly think LE won't buy Rugers because they aren't overpriced. If the old P-series had sold for $500.00+ instead of $300.00~ you would see alot of them on duty. Any gun will malfunction but I will admit that Glock's quality control seems to be alot better than most.

Funny, not a single Ruger represented in the bunch. LE seems to shun Rugers for some reason.I've ofter wondered about this my self .A fellow Deputy of mine has an older P-95 that runs like a top and will gobble up anything you care to feed it .I my self like at least a .40S&W or .45 ACP in a duty gun ,but you can get basicaly the same gun in ether caliber and cost wize for a small department on a tight bugget the ruger just makes since to me .Look at the Fed D.O.C. they have used the mini-14G.M. for years .Now I admit I'm not a fan of the P serise rugers ,but it's not anything to do with the realibalty of the gun of it's accuracy they just don't fit my hand ,but if that was my issue gun I'd be well armed with one .
And glocks have their fair share of problems too I've been lucky with the 2 I've owned my G19 never once failed to go bang and neither has my Gen 4 g-22 ,not to say it won't ever happen but so far so good .Through our police supply dealer I paied $389.00 for a brand new Gen4 G-22 + $89.00 for a set of TRU-GLO T.F.O nite sights given what they could get a ruger for it would be a lot cheaper .You would think that a department straped for cash would jump on the ruger .If it were me I'd do that and put the savings into buying my guys better quality body armor .Just my thoughts on the matter .

Other guns you show your friends, Glocks you show your enemies! The whole tactical tupperware package is not pretty, Rugers as well as others blow them away in appearances & features.....but, there is a reason that so many LEO's & others in the private security field depend on more Glocks than any other type of pistol out there (why the military is sticking with it's Berretta 92 still is beyond me)!

Rugers by far dominate my favorite guns in many categories... but I sleep well at night knowing my G23 is right next to my bed!

I had a guest over to do some shooting a couple of Sunday's ago. We each kept pulling out our toys and shooting them and then exchanging them.

I finally got to shoot my first Glock, actually two of them. Both 9MM one full size and one sort of a compact model. Don't know or remember the model numbers.

My point. I shot both of them well. I had never shot a handgun with that type of trigger and expected difficulty. Didn't happen. Shot a decent group at 25 yards and had so much fun I am now looking for one of my own in .40 or 10mm.

I cannot say "I am not a glock fan..." I did have trouble coming around to being able to admit I was a glock fan though. Let's face it... it's ugly. I am into the aesthetics of firearms. I love the feel of wood and antlers, pretty blued steel and the feel of well fitted and machined parts... in other words everything glock is not. But I have come to love my Glock 20 (10mm full size) for other reasons. I have never had any kind of malfunction at all with it or a older model 22 I used to own. No FTF, no FTE, no failure to go into battery or light strikes. Not even when either one was brand spankin' new and out of the box. They are as accurate as any other handgun I own. They are not prone to rust and are tough. It just plain does what a CCW firearm should do... go bang every time I pull the trigger and send the bullet where I am pointing it.

I don't own a Glock but I have shot a few. All the ones I shot handled well & were accurate. As for the Glock trigger It seems fine to me. One guy I know has a G-23 with about a 2 1/2 pound pull. It is a lot of fun to shoot although I would never want that light a trigger on a defensive firearm.

Glock's aren't anything of beauty but they work. Proven all over the world. I've never bought into the Ruger semi autos (centerfire). I love Ruger revolvers both D/A & S/A and long guns. My go to semi auto is a G27. I have to put trust into what I'm carrying. Just reading the issues on these Ruger forums I know there won't be a Ruger Semi auto coming home except the SR1911. I will admit I have a P89X and 2 LCP's only because I got good deals on them and the P89X is fairly rare. It's very unlikely any of them will ever be a carry gun.

JumpmasterC said it .I sawc the numbers somewhere a while ago and the fact of the matter is this ,there more glocks in the holsters of Mitiliary,L.EO.'s and Privaite Security than all other pistols combined .My g22 in .40S&W with +p 180gr speer bonded unicore is an accutate ultra reliable hard hitting weapon . Like I said I shoot my 1911 better I qualify in the hi 90's with it ,but I score in the low 90's with the glock and thats good enough for me + the trigger on my glock is smooth and very concistent at about 5 1/2 pounds and breaks clean .Yea it's ujgy ,but I know I can depend on it to do it's job and to me looks take a backseat to working every time .

I carry a Glock 26 in a comptac minotaur. It's very comfortable and concealable, not to mention all of the perks of owning a glock: good firepower, can take 17round and 33 round magazines, mags are inexpensive, and all parts and accessories are plentiful and inexpensive.

Exactly, you've got your range guns, and then you've got your holster guns. Glocks fall into that second category. The most important features of a holster gun is that it functions efficiently to save your life. The most important features of a range gun is that it is fun and pretty.

I don't really see any of the complaints against glock as relevant to it's intended use. The grip angle thing hasn't seemed to matter in competition or real world shootouts. Neither have the gun's looks.

By the time you buy a bunch of magazines and parts for a Ruger, you come out ahead on Glock. Also you have a wider selection of holsters, etc to set the guns up exactly how you want. Glock is a better value if you're going to actually use it.

Also, LE doesn't pay anywhere near retail for glocks. They pay about what SR9s go for.

Then you can look at the flexibility you have with glocks. You'll have access to a wide array of holsters, aftermarket parts, trigger customization, etc. You will also be able to order guns in all kinds of different calibers under the same contract. You could give 10mm guns to officers who routinely go into bear country, etc.

Then you have to consider the factory defect rate, and all the time you spend dealing with that. Meanwhile, Glock has the knowledge and experience of supporting LE and Mil organizations.
