i have been trying to find one for months. i was driving home from wotk and i decided to stop in the shop near me and there it was, just traded in today. still looked new. i grabbed it.
finaly found a sp101 22lr

I found a used one about 6 weeks ago. No box or papers. The previous owner had put a hogue monogrip on it. Don't like those grips on the SP101. Bought the generic SP101 grip from Ruger for $24. Doesn't have fancy wood inlay, but for $24 I'm not complaining. The fancy wood insert by itself was $40.
I don't know why the previous owner traded it in, but it is a good shooter. Not as smooth as my S&W 63, but I like the extra rounds.

Nice revolver. I paid $529 plus fees for my new one. Overall, I am happy with the revolver. The revolver is accurate shooting single action. Double action is another matter. If a person slows down, almost staging a bit the revolver is accurate at seven yards. The double action trigger pull is very heavy. Not gritty but heavy. He probably traded in because of the trigger. The double action trigger pull is very heavy. Probably heavier than any Ruger double action I have ever owned.Ditmo said:

I bought one just a couple days ago. Really a nice little revolver. I did use a diamond file to break the sharp edges on the hammer spur.

So far my local shop has not gotten one in.
I do have a Couple Speed Beez Speed Loaders, and a Loading Block for the 8 shot SP101 however. I wrongly thought it might work with my LCR 22. It Won't.
If one does a little looking, you can find some detailed instructions for doing a Trigger Job on the SP101. Most of them need a trigger job from what I can tell.
I sure hope the new rear sight on the SP101-22 manages to start being used on the other SP101's. The pictures and reviews of the SP101-22 looks like the new rear sight is a big improvement to the SP101 line.

I'd say my SP101 .22 double action pull is middle of the road for 22 revolvers. They need to have a strong hammer fall to set off the priming compound in the rim.
The worst double action pull I ever had was on a Taurus 94. I could barely shoot it double action. I put new springs in it, but couldn't get it to reliably fire every time. I put back in the factory hammer spring, but left the trigger return spring in. Still a lot harder than any of my other .22 revolvers, but at least I can shoot it double action now.
My best .22 double action is my S&W 18. I'll never sell that gun.

I bought the second SP-101 .22 sold by a large semi-local guns shop. Just had to have it. Shooting it revealed a few things already mentioned, especially the heavy trigger. I installed a Wolff mainspring and trigger return spring, then dry fired the gun a lot. Smoothed it out a great deal and made the double action pull much better. I only went down 2LBs on both springs, but it made a huge difference.
My SP-101 exhibits mediocre accuracy. It is better than the S&W 63 I used to have but not even close to my M 17's, M-18 or 617 Smiths. Loses to my Taurus 907 too, but it has an 8 inch barrel (and a heavy trigger).
