I would wear out the 38-40 cylinder, the 10mm would never be used.

I have a hundred or so hand loads of 38-40. I will plink and target shoot with those. The 10mm will be a woods carry alternative for my Kimber Eclipse 10mm. I will definitely shoot the 10mm more often.

Cool , did you get it at Gators in Kelso ? It looke very nice for a shooter grade but that IS what they were made for after all.

I actually said it is a very nice shooter, not shooter grade. :D Much nicer than that.... I bought it from a fellow forum member who lives in the greater Olympia area. Gator has a pre model 29 I am lusting for though... 8)

If Ruger came out with a .40 S&W Blackhawk I would buy one. Didn't they used to make a .38-40/.40 S&W convertible at one point?

There actually was a limited run of 40 S&W Vaqueros. They were clean up guns from an initial San Diego Sheriff's department commemorative run. I had one some years ago.... it got away somehow. :(

RUGER made about 2K stainless Vaqueros in 38/40 and a 40 cal cylinder.
Some of the cylinders were a bit tight and could be sent back to Ruger, free, repaired or doit your self.
The 40 cylinder, especially in a Ruger Vaquero, could be loaded almost to hot 10mm loads and so accurate
