Was wondering if any of you have tried this concoction for acid reflux. I just hate taking meds, prescription or over the counter, for anything. So far I've been lucky and have not had to, but the reflux is happening a little more often. I love my spices and red wine and don't see how man can live without them !!!!!

There is a cult that seems to worship vinegar as a cure-all for every ailment. Since it's acid reflux that bothers you, I fail to see how drinking acetic acid will help. Do some online research, talk to a dietician, talk to your doctor. Personally, I know I have more trouble when my weight hits a certain point, and losing just 10 pounds can make a big difference.

I have tried all the cures imaginable for acid reflux. I know you don't like taking meds, but Protonix has been a wonder drug for me. Could not tolerate Prilosec, nexium, etc. Good luck with the vinegar.. :D

A tablespoonful of baking soda works for me. Take a spoonful in your mouth and follow it with just enough water in a cup to wash it down.

I had a good friend who had acid reflux herself as well as both her children. Hers being more mild than theirs. She swore by Braggs and water. It was given to her by a very knowledgeable nutritionist I worked with. When I asked him about it, he told me that's the only apple vinegar I'll put in my body. Me I've never needed to try it, but if I had acid reflux it would be the first thing I tried.

I had acid reflex so bad I couldn't sleep. The Dr started me on Nexuim and I haven't had any problems since; that was over 12 years ago I started. Now it can be purchased OTC. For me it was a blessing in a little capsule.

As said the best I have found is:
in a bottle/glass of water add in a teaspoon of baking soda

Works everytime for me

I was doing a lot of anti-acids for a while and then a friend suggested instead of downing the pills which tend to weaken your ability to not have acid reflux.... he said just try sipping a little club soda when it first starts to come on.... I did this for a while and now don't have to do anything... maybe a half a tums type pill once ever month or three.

Don't eat anything 3 hours before going to sleep and take a couple of Tums before going to bed. If you still have acid reflux you will need Prilosec (Omeprazole) once a day, for a period of several weeks. Then try the Tums again when needed.

P.S. a little vinegar aids digestion, not a heartburn relief.

drinking a glass of cold water with a shot of Braggs as I type this. I was on Prilosec for years- thought it was a magic cure- came to believe nothing is free and over time the Prilosec causes it's own issues. now on half dose w/ braggs, hope be off entirely soon. Feeling good, no problems

I have Condition called Barrett's Esophagus. It's when the sphincter at the top of your stomach doesn't close all the way and when you lay down your stomach acid leaks into
your Esophagus. This IS A PRE cancerous condition and with out proper treatment can kill you .I strongly recommend that you go see a G.I. doctor and have an upper G.i done . What you have may just be reflux, but if you have what I have the meds are the only way to treat this . I have to take two different meds every day and it's a hassle, but trust me you'll feel a lot better.
In the mean time I use the baking soda and water to calm my reflux down when I eat things I shouldn't ,like all the spicy hot stuff I love because sometimes even with the meds my reflux gets real bad even while standing of sitting up .
Don't play around with this ,If you never listen to anything I say again , get your self checked out .Your Friend,
Lou

I use it for a lot of ailments. There is a book about "Folk Medicine" by a medical Dr. / Vet. (D.C. Jarvis, MD) that tells all about it. I don't have acid reflux, but it works well for me when I get a cold or other things. Steve

I have a 1/2 full bottle of Bragg's in the fridge as I type. I use it and it does work for me. My friend thought I was crazy until he tried it.... then not so much. It may not work for everyone but it works for me and my friend.

Good luck

What cruzerlou said that was my problem also the called Erosive esophagitist.

I suffered with acid re flux to the point it paralyzed my vocal cords and could not even speak.
I was on prylocect (spelling) for some time and got my voice back.

FWIW My doctor told me to put a couple of wooden blocks at the head of my bed jacked it up
about 3 inches. Low and behold I was cured. It is my understanding the acid comes up when
you are sleeping. I also got in my lungs and irritated the badly. Been a few years now and haven't
taken any meds. Blocks under your head board may do the trick. YMMV. ps

I use Bragg ACV to keep the good gut bugs happy. I had a problem with minor intestinal infections which Bragg ACV solved. I don't know if more acid vinegar would solve an acid reflex problem though.

I've had acid reflux since I was a child. 'Had an examination several years ago and discovered that my esophagus is a desert wasteland.

Prilosec prescribed, and it worked, but never cared for drugs. Tried the vinegar, but it was too mean. A nutritionist suggested about a teaspoon of lemon juice in a cup of water a half-hour before eating breakfast -- 'Worked.

I haven't has acid reflux in several years, gave my Prilosec away some time ago.
