Everyone usually has more than one knife. I realized that I have acquired so many that I forgot some over time, but I think two of my favorites have to my US Air Force Survival knife and the first (and so far only) knife I have ever made. I have the US Air Force knife pretty geared up right now, I saw this set up once done by a former survival instructor and never realized how much gear you can get based around your knife. I have with the knife and the sheath, the stone that comes with it, a ferrule, real strike anywhere matches, a couple of decent lengths of paracord, a couple of split shot sinkers, in the back hidden in the metal cover on the sheath is about 20 feet of fishing line, a couple of hooks that are kept secured so I don't stick myself and an emergency blanket under the paracord as well as the compass. It goes on the belt exactly as it should and frees up a lot of room in my pack.

The other knife is a patch knife I made from a price of antler from a deer I hit with my jeep, a small 4 point buck. The knife is a small Damascus patch blade and I fitted it and then secured it all with JB Weld. I polished the antler and gave it a coat of clear finish to keep it nice and shiny.

I like the patch knife. I made one myself out of a spike that was my first ML buck. Your damascus blade looks perfect.

My latest fave for hunting season is the custom damascus Bird & Trout, I had made to my druthers for comparatively chump change (as opposed to what most custom makers charge) by a knifemaker (Montucky), over on RFC:

But I have to say that my longest-lasting favorite is the one I carry in my pocket every day - an old Police Model Spydeco (with my Browning M-1955) that I scarfed @ a yard sale about 20 years ago, for $0.50:

I suppose my fathers old Bosun's knife would be the one that means the most to me, but it's certainly not my favorite carry or hunting knife.

It's a CaseXX, Pattern 3246R made around 1951. This pattern was made between 1950 - 1964. I know my dad's was made in the early 50's because that's when he taught me how to use the marlin spike, and I carried it occasionally in the scouts. He made the belt sheath for it. The knife has been to the Antarctic and the Arctic and various places in between during the '50's. Dad retired in 1960.

Mine is Harvey Draper Stag folder I had made for my dad, when he passed (1982, same year Harvey died) I got it back.

My two favorites are long gone. My dad had a MK II Navy Knife which I ended up with when he crossed over the bar. I have since given it to my daughter with the explanation that it was her grandfather's knife. My early years in the U.S. Navy were spent as a Bosn Mate, and I carried and used that same type of knife that GunnyGene showed us but mine didn't have the ivory type panels. I have no idea where it is but it may be somewhere in the "stuff" around here. I learned how to use the spike in those days.

Now my favorite is yer basic Buck 110.

I also carry a Spyderco Police, one with "foliage green" scales. Gave it to my Marine son when he first deployed to Afghanistan and he gave it back when he separated from the USMC at the end of a five-year contract. So it's been to Afghanistan twice, Djibouti, South Korea, and the southern Philippines. Now it's retired like me!
