Two major factors in how fast you get it.
1) How close are you to a distribution center? Obviously if you are near
one, the package has a short distance to travel.
2) The shipping "mode" (for lack of a better term). If it is shipped overnight
air, you will have it very quickly. If it is "second day" you add one to the
above, and if it is by truck, it can be from two to five days to arrive.
I had one small package that sat in Chicago (area) four days. That one
took six days to get here. My S-I-L is in the Phoenix area and he regularly
orders one day and gets it the next.
The amazing part, at least to me, was when I was getting a lot of things
from Midway. There were many a shipment that (for example) were
ordered on Tuesday and delivered the next morning. Lately that is not
the case.
