I was just checking my September calendar and realized this is the Labor Day weekend.

Now, as for me, I no longer get holidays. But then the Labor Day weekend means that this is the last weekend to wear straw hats. So back to the dressier felts.

Have the house opened up this evening and heading out to the dove fields tomorrow. I love the fall, favorite time of year.

Time to be finalizing whatever projects remain from the summer. We have an excavator coming to replace a couple of field crossings on our north farm tomorrow and another field crossing project set for Wednesday here at home. Still making adjustments and replacing parts on the combine and I dragged out an old trailer that needs the axles replaced before installing a grain box. Next week's shedule:
Monday-- haul skidloader to north farm and assist setting the recycled concrete hog floor slats in the ditch crossings.
Tuesday--take a 100 mile drive to procure steel for a trailer project and see how far I can get on that
Wednesday--supervise the install of the shipping container culvert here and set some water diversion devices in the creek
Thursday--possibly finish the trailer upgrade
Friday--attend a farm auction to offer advice to Son on the purchase of a hay baler
Saturday--hopefully finish working on combine and prep the grain wagons for harvest
How well all those things go will depend on the cooperation of weather and dirt movers.

No white boots after Labor Day, either.

Uh.....White boots?

A play on the old standard, never wear white after Labor Day.

The Golden Rods are beginning to bloom and the Robins are migrating to their Winter home. The leaves are falling and my back is beginning to ache just thinking about raking them. :)
