Extra mags for SR9c

Looked all over, SR9c mags are anywhere from $30 to $45- and that's for the 10-rnds. Question is, do mag prices usually go down after that first rush to get new pistols? I know it's not THAT new, but SR9c's are still pretty new- can I expect prices to drop next year? the next?

You ask a good question. If I could correctly predict the answer, I would also be buying a lot of winning lottery tickets!!! lol... :lol:

Seriously, that is hard to say. At this time, MecGar is making the mags for Ruger. MecGar, an Italian firm, makes very good magazines for several gun manufacturers, and also sells them to individuals and to retailers . I am not sure when other manufacturers will get into the act, that should tend to reduce prices. So, only time will tell.

Who knows, maybe Congress will keep the tax structure low (for more than 2 years) and maybe they'll repeal obamacare- then businesses will hire and gear up for more production- and then maybe industry will start making magazi......well.....I won't be playing the lottery either.

I bought a SR9 STD (10) with the plastic filler on sale at Cabelas and put my extra base plate that came with the SR9c and was the cheapest option for an extra mag I have found as of yet. I would like another one, so I am on the hunt too.

I'd say buy 2 (fullsize) SR9 10 Rounders like others have said they've done, and then buy two of these (Regular price is $8 each, get them 2 for $10 though). Can't find the flat base plate online, might need to call Ruger about ordering them, may be cheaper, or same price as the finger extension plate.

Guess I'm a little thick this morning- I know I had heard mags for SR9's were the same as mags for 9c's- but I went to Rugershop and they have two separate mags, with two separate part #'s- so it doesn't APPEAR they are interchangeable.

They have 3 separate mags.

They have a full length 17 rounder.

BTW, no one has asked, but the picture for the 10 round mag. for the SR40 is WRONG. That mag would never work in the SR40. Unless, the SR40c is coming soon, I think they just used the picture for the 10 round SR9c magazine.

I saw that this morning too while finding the link to the 9c base plates. Might just be a wrong picture, or it might be our first clue to the 40c. I'm betting on it being just an error in the picture linking.

The full sized SR9 10 round mags have a 10 round capacity metal body with a filler made of plastic for the base plate. The same metal body is used in the 9c 10 round mags that fit flush with the shorter grip frame. You just need to order the SR9 10 rounders, then order enough base plates to fit them. Swap the base plates (SR9 -> SR9c) and presto chango you have yourself some affordable SR9c (flush-fit) mags. The line I had where I said "buy two of these", the word "these" was a link to the pinky extension SR9c base plates. I wish Rugerforum automatically underlined links to give them some more visual difference than standard text.

Like Crispy said (and provided links) all SR9 mags will fit the SR9c, but not the other way around. The flush fit 9c mags won't fit in the SR9, for obvious reasons.

Crispy is right, $25 at Bud's Gun Shop. And yes, they are made by MecGar in Italy. Right now, if you buy an SR9 or SR9c ten rounder, no matter where you buy it, it will be a MecGar.
