My cousin arrived in L.A. from her home in Hawaii yesterday, meeting other family stateside, to discover her vacation plans were cancelled over the virus scare.

They decided to fly back to Hawaii and spend their vacation there.

She sent a photo of the airplane, with very few passengers.

Gee. Now all of a sudden the airlines must again compete for passengers. I'll bet they now wish they treated us better when they didn't have to compete. :? Passengers have memories.

Three of my family were going to fly Monday for a week at Disney in California.

Obviously, plans have changed.

Daughter was going to go on a cruise. They cancelled. I just bought a few shares of a cruise company. Their stock had fallen to $32 from $135! I am a gambler. Never been on a cruise. This cant last forever.

I also hope and expect it can't last forever.

We cruise a lot. The cruise ships are getting a bad rap, but we've found hygiene on a ship is far better than any restaurant or airlines, and it has been for far longer than it was popular elsewhere. On Royal Caribbean and Norwegian, hand sanitizing stations are absolutely everywhere, and the passengers must be witnessed washing and/or sanitizing their hands before entering any dining facility. Even doors are no-touch to open. Wave your hand across a pad and open sesame.

Unfortunately, it's the passengers that don't take hygiene seriously, and undo everything the ships try to accomplish.

The Denver Post last week reported that an American Airlines plane was diverted from a flight to New Jersey and landed in Denver.

The report stated that three of the passengers caused such a disturbance that the pilot landed at DIA, where those three passengers were taken from the plane before it took off to continue on the trip with all other passengers.

The three passengers created the disturbance when another passenger who was afflicted with an allergy, sneezed.

One time on a late flight from Los Angeles,CA to Seattle, WA the flight after a stop on San Francisco only had THREE passengers; One of the flight attendants told us that one time the flight only had ONE passenger, said they moved him up to First Class (as they did with us three) and by the time the flight arrived in Seattle had him CONVINCED that the ONLY reason they made the flight was due to him having a ticket.
IN truth, the flight was made because the airline NEEDED the plane in Seattle for an Early morning flight to somewhere>

I wore out my arms in about the mid '80s. I had a series of WAY over 60 flights in
a three month period. :shock: Have been fortunate enough to NOT fly since then.

See no reason for that to change. :D

I love to fly, just not commercial! The TSA has made it terrible! The snide remarks about my gun not getting to my destination cause they liked it, having to strip down, when the guy with a towel on his head zips right through, oh yeah, gun cases should have non TSA locks, but then they get cut off!

This is what I’m seeing in my world to, what’s being reported by the MSM does not dovetail at all with the reality of life here is SE PA. Like I said in another thread, the CDC is now reporting “presumed cases”, that’s unacceptable. My sister was just at the movies with friends and she said the cineplex was a mob scene, afterwards she went to the store to do her usual shopping and the shelves were a little light but the store was packed. In a couple of days all of the stores will be restocked and the hysteria will begin to wain.

Yesterday when the wife went to the grocery store she said the place was mobbed but many shelves were bare. We live in a high % of Mormon area of Utah so that may account for it as they believe and preach about keeping your house well supplied. (We arent Mormon).

I have only flown on a commercial aircraft once (or twice if you consider a quick 1 night turn around round flight on the exact same aircraft twice). It was a short flight, less than an hour each way. It was a smaller commuter jet too, two seats on each side of the aisle. I loved the view but found the aircraft a little cramped. Maybe I'd like a larger aircraft better. Other than that I've been in a few private aircraft, single and twin-engine and a couple of helicopters. Again, I enjoyed the view but all those were pretty cramped too. I think my favorite part of the flight on the jet was as we were approaching the airport and the pilot put the gear down my wife, who had never flown at all, got a look of terror on her face from the sound of the gear going down. I told her, "take it easy, that's a good noise."

Gust and Lena were flying from Warsaw to New York. The pilot came on the speaker and informed the passengers that he lost a engine. But dont worry folks, we have three other engines but I have to throttle back and we will be two hours late. About a hour later they lost another engine, pilot sounded a little nervous, told the passengers they would be three hours late. Gust told Lena, by Gott Lena, another engine go`s and ve wont make New York until next veek!

A week later...


I know folks are curtailing their own air travel, but I don't know if that's caused flights to be cancelled.

I live below the approach to PDX, and normally, 24 hours a day, there is a lineup of aircraft from the south, as far as the eye can see. There are very few today.

I flew four segments this week, all the flights were relatively empty, 3 total on one flight, many flights cancelled as there are NO passengers and i have been forced to cancel travel for the next two weeks, as clients are not seeing vendors......

Hotel and flight bargains galore too....

I fly about 150 segments a year, i have never seen airports and hotels so empty....

Interesting times...
