Was browsing through some old photo's & found this one of a bull I took in 1970 or 71 with my Ruger OM flattop 44 maggie in the shoulder rig. Shot was (I think) about 45 yds steep down hill using 21 grs of 2400 & the great Keith 250 gr cast slug. I killed him in a bunch of blow down & it took us 13 hours to get him out of there using 3 horses, my brother was mad at me for a week, the horses were all skinned up from jumping them over blow down (logs). It was a fun trip though, we took 4 bulls on that hunt. I also helped 2 big shots from Browning Arms pack out a bull after they had killed the one horse they had on the trip.

That cant be the famous Sixshot, there were no Crocs to be had back then so there is no way he would catch up to a bull like that old boy... 8)

Great picture and story.

I enjoy reading of things that I wish that I would have had the opportunity to do younger in life.

Reminds me of a moose hunt.

Q: Where do you shoot a moose?
A: Near the trail. Shoot him in the swamp and you'll be lonely while you're gutting and skinning him.

Thank You very much for sharing that. Spent time out west climbing and backpacking. Saw elk and "black timber" in the 'Bob in the early '80's. Always wished to go back, pack-in, and fish or hunt. stevemb
