Not sure if you are talking about this year, but this is standard practice in schools for the past couple years.

I was going to ask that question myself! It seems earbuds have become a must have item. I have a 20 yr old great niece that lives with us, wears them to the dinner table! Irritates me to no end!!!

Years ago, I had a conversation with a guy who told me that he had a table by his front door with a basket. When family came over, they had to put their phones into the basket or they weren't welcome. He said that he got tired of his kids and grandkids coming over and no one interacting.
I wish that I was allowed to tell my customers to put their damned phones away. I find it sad how people walk around clutching their phones like Linus and his blanket. "OMG! One of my many acquaintances will want to contact me with something that could easily wait."

Sounds familiar. WE had a great nephew with is for about 4 years, took a year away because we were too confining. Went to the lib other relatives and he was back in a year not because he like life with us but because he thought he could do what he wanted with them, and they had to knock him down a step. Had ear buds in all the time. Got canned for wearing them while doing warehouse type work. When the boss approached him, he said I only have one in so I can hear the forklifts. Gone.
I wonder how often a young person who was just hired for a job decides not to even show up on day one because they found out that they could not keep their phone with them while working. The ironic thing about all of this is that young people almost never use the phone feature of their phone, being aghast at the thought of actually speaking with another person. So-called "smartphones" should be called "texting devices".

I don't get the people who go for walks wearing them. How can you hear traffic? Birds? Dogs?
It was long before her district had any such policy.
She still fails students who don't perform. Heck they have mandated state tests the kids can't pass. But the district still advances them.

No, but I fell on already fractured ribs once. Decided not to ever do that again.
She probably did it as a instinctive reaction and not even thought about it. Sort of like if someone holds something out towards you, most will reach for it without giving it any thought.

Nope, nope, nope. The Mickey D beef infused French Fries must come from a deep fat fryer (for taste).... and I would imagine for speed during high volume periods. I don't think you could bake fries fast enough to service a medium to large store during a lunchtime rush.

I agree. Remember when McDonalds fries were cooked in lard? They were so much better then. Their menu has gotten so bad, but the fries are still good.

I wish they would ban them from ALL workplaces. ESPECIALLY customer service. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve wanted to scream at a cashier
“ I’m ready to check out”, because they were playing on their phone and oblivious to my presence.

Non-verbal communication is something a lot of kids have been conditioned for. It’s hurting more than they know.
This old, but very applicable. A high school friend was running wearing a Walkman, he turned right in front of a train at a crossing.

I haven't eaten at Wendy's for over fifteen years because of an incident like that. The cashier was busy with his phone and ignoring me. The 12 year old manager didn't understand why I was upset. I contacted Wendy's customer service and they didn't even bother to respond so I don't get Wendy burgers anymore.

That’s a shame. Wendy’s is the only burger joint I can tolerate.
Used to be fresh, never frozen, real beef. Don’t know about now, but I continue to believe that just for peace of mind.
With regard to customer service folks and phones. I had a similar situation at a Ralph's market. They are big here, not sure about elsewhere. I was waiting to checkout. The person in front of me had loaded the conveyor belt and stood waiting while the cashier was on her phone. There were several others behind me.
I simply walked off, found the person running the self checkout and let them know I wouldn't be back if personal phones were more important than customers.
I contacted the company's management by email and never heard a word. I haven't been back. I encourage everyone to avoid the company.

That was the closest thing I could get to a hot hearty home cooked meal when I worked night service.
