My son is planning on getting me another reloader for my birthday. He is going to get either a 650 or 1050. Now I know which I would get if I ran a range, however we are looking for one in case of zombie invasion and I don't feel the need for the larger. I thought of the two the 650 would be more than adequate and the extra cash would buy more tool heads and extra brass feeder wheels, etc. What say you all? I will be at A&M graduation for the next couple of days and will check in on my return.

There are no bad Dillon's. I have a 550B and am just tickled to death with it. Any Dillon would be good to have when the zombies come callin.

They consider the 1050 a commercial machine and do not offer their lifetime warranty on it.

Dang can I borrow your son he can call me daddy and buy me one, just had my birthday this week none of my sons bought me anything, sounds like you have a great son.

I've got an upgraded 450 & a 550B that I've loaded thousands of rds. on with very little down time ..you'll love the 650

for a first machine id think hard on a 550. Lots less going on when ones running. 650s and 1050s were designed to be used with a case feeder and are awkward without them. That means more fooling around when switching calibers and expense. It also means more going on while reloading that you need to pay attention to. 550s are alot more basic and easy for a beginner to run. Because there not a auto advance press there also easy to use as a single stage press if the need arises. Ive got 3 lnl hornadys and a 550 set up right now. Two hornadys with a case feeder and one without and the 550 and i use the 550 more then the other three combined. WHY? because it just keeps cranking out ammo without and ajustments or tweaking. There is no more reliable way to load alot of ammo and do it without taking a second morgage out.
