Sorry, I didn't know where to put this one.

My gun safe is old and allow for a little surface rust every now and then. Is there any desiccant products anyone can recommend? Something that can be reactivated would be great. I don't want to drill a hole in it for other options/electric heaters.

What does everyone else do?

Thanks

I use the hydrosorbent silica gel products from Cabela's.

I forget who , but they make a bucket for just what your describing . It turns pink then heat it .dry it out & reuseable.

I use the Remington branded one you plug in to re-activate. Works good for me. It has a little window so you can check for pink/blue. When it turns pink, plug it in for a few hours.

I use these "Sta-Dry" contraptions I ordered from Outdoorsmans Guide a few yew years ago. They are about 1/4 the size of a cereal box....have a lil' window in the front that you can see the beads, when they tun pink.......you take it out, fold down the A/C plug on the unit, plug it in overnight & it is good for another month or so. I live close to the ocean, so it is a bad environment for guns. I got one safe/cabinet I keep my junky, unfinished guns in with those dissident packets in & have noticed slight rust spots a few times. But, the safes with these Eva-Dry things in it seem to keep the moisture at bay, as I haven't noticed any rust yet!
