Mother's Mag Polish (available at Walmart) and a soft rag. Go slow and polish to your taste. I spent about 20 minutes on this gun:

My Walmart has 2 Mothers wheel polishes one is like $5.99 the other about $15.99 did you use the cheap one or the pricey one?

the Mothers Billet polish ( 5.99?) will do,not that costly, get the small container, as for the 'scratch' work that out first with a bit of wet/dry paper, to remove the scratch and blend it into the rest of the gun, THEN 'polish away ' to your hearts content,,and finish it off using one of those 'microfiber' clothes.........

thats the stuff, its a 5 oz jar.... the Billet Polish we got at the automotive supply, and used that till it was empty....Mothers works!!!

Will try some next time I make it over to walmart, looks like the $15.99 stuff was the billet polish, anyone tryed that and is it better?
as I said we used to use the billet polish till we ran out and was only able to get ( find) the mag& aluminum one...the billet polish is MORE consistent in its making, and used for 'other' metals as well, thus more costly..........with polishing stailess, beng so hard, it is more in the 'cleaning properties' that we like it......have used F;itz & semichrome for years, and the guys at the bike shops, (and many of them gun owners) turned me onto the Mothers years ago, and thats what we use,yes, in a pinch if the 'other' stuff is on the work bench, and its nothing "special" we'll used, byt I think ,feel those are more aggressive ( abrasive) and prefer the final polish with the Mothers & a Microfiber clothe.........
use what YOU like and works for YOU, and 'newbies' stay away from ANY and ALL power tools, hand held or bench mounted...........

We be shineing now all these polishes were just not getting it, so a trip to Sears for a buffing wheel for the grinder and a stick if polishing compound. now were talking mirror finish again better than new I polished places even Ruger missed like the sides of the front sight blades. my guns never looked better even when new, if Ruger polished then this good they would have to charge the price of a Colt for all the extra polish time all the pours in the metal are closed now and smooth as glass.

another very good product is blue magic. Wal-mart carries it or just about any truckstop has it. The truckers use it on their tanks and pipes and wheels on the trucks. I use it on my motorcycle wheels and it does a fantastic job.
