The Calif DOT found over 200 dead crows on Calif hwys recently and there was concern that they may have died from Avian Flu. A Pathologist examined the remains of all the crows, and, to everyone's relief, confirmed the problem was not Avian Flu.

The cause of death appeared to be from vehicular impacts. However, during analysis it was noted that varying colors of paints appeared on the bird's beak and claws. By analyzing these paint residues it was found that 98% of the crows had been killed by impact with motor bikes, while only 2% were illed by cars.

The Agency then hired an Ornithological Behaviourist to determine if there was a cause for the disproportionate percentages of motor bike kills versus car kills. The Otnithological Behaviourist quickly concluded that when crows eat road kill they always have a look out crow to warn of danger. They discovered that while all of the lookout crows could shout "Cah", not a single one could shout "bike".

Oh yeah, I forgot to say JOKE ALERT!!! :) :) :)

Next thin you know California will appropriate millions to appoint a committee to fix the problem, and to teach crows more words...can you imagine Crows on the Endangered species list...

Argghhh: I can tell you the worst motorcycle pain I have ever felt was from a bird. Damn buzzard. He's dining on the side of the road and decided to depart about the time I got to him. Square in the chest at 60 mph.. Didn't lose control but pulled over very quickly because I couldn't breathe. Coalinga hills CA. 1983 or so. Thought I was going to die.

There fixed it. Didn't say I wouldn't use it though.

That's not funny they are already talking of shutting down the wind farms until a way can be developed to protect the birds that are being killed from flying into the blades. Just what we need more expensive electricity to save a few birds.

Damned lucky you didn't!! Back in the late 1960s I was riding with a fellow patchholder when he got took off the back of his Triumph Bonneville by a bird in the face. He survived but he was sure screwed up between his face being half ripped off and landing squarely on his back on the pavement at ~50 mph.

I spent a lot of time in the Coalinga area early in my Oil & Gas career... I've seen those buzzards. They're heavy and slow... Not what a fella wants to see on 2 wheels!

Karl, you musta had an angel on your shoulder. You're fortunate that you lived to tell about it! Only a couple of small creatures did I ever collide with while riding. A dragon fly (we called them mosquito hawks) hit me square between the eyes while doing about 55mph and another time a lady bug went under my sunglasses and latched onto my eyeball. Needless to say both times I almost panicked! :?
