Davidsons 10/22

Just came from my friendly neighborhood pawn shop. There I saw a Davidsons Ruger 10/22 stainless with checkered walnut stock and Simmons 3x9 scope; also stainless. Beautiful rifle. They're asking $279. What do ya think?

Actually there was another fellow looking for a 10/22 and that's when it came out. I merely looked over his shoulder. He was asking about layaway but had to get the $75 for layaway. Told me if I wanted it to go ahead. I told him he had first dibs, but would think about it for a week.

Hugh, you say it's a beautiful rifle with scope. Sounds like a good deal. I didn't mention on my earlier post that the 22in stainless came with a simmons scope as well. The stainless finish on mine is like a gray matte and the trigger group is this new gray plastic. The gun is like new and the stock is very nice. The scope the prior owner installed on it was silver. I like the black one I have on it now, not so shiny. I jumped on this 22in stainless because they are hard to find. My cost was $250 OTD.

I just bought a so-called stainless 10/22 and was a little disappointed. It looks like the matte gray finish on the barrel is paint rather than bare metal. Not attractive.

I have one of the older shiny 22 inch stainless and aluminum trigger group from Walmart. It's so shiny you can see it flashing miles away. It's my at the range look at me gun. For hunting purposes I like the new one with the dull gray coating and black scope.

I went back to check on it today. Well, it's gone now. The fellow who was going to put it on layaway decided not to after I left. Right behind him was another guy who bought it.

I was reminded, if you snooze you lose. No more mister nice guy. I had the cash and he didn't.

I've seen prices for the scope vary from $58 to $84. Needless to say, that rifle with that scope at $279 was a very good deal.

I usually think that the guy in front of me has first dibs until he sets it down and says he'd like to think about it for a while. When that happens, the gun is up for grabs.
