I'm looking for a forearm for a Darren, 12 gauge, damascus, barreled, exposed hammers double barreled shotgun.
It has no serial number, and the only distinguiishing mark I can find is a brass star imbedded in the pistol grip.
This gun belongs to a friend of mine and has been been in his family for many years, (he's 86 years old)
He has asked me to clean it up, but not to remove the patina, and to try to find a forearm for it.
It's cleaning up nicely, but i've about exhausted all my sites for information or parts for this family treasure.
Any help or suggestions are appreciated.

I can post pics after today if they will help.

By any chance do you mean a Darne shotgun? If so, these folks might be able to point you in the right direction.

Try Googling DarneUSA.

Good suggestion, I'll verify the spelling and report back.
Thanks,

AFAIK, Darne (France) made only sliding breech hammerless SxS double shotguns.

IIRC, Darren double guns were made in Belgium (look for a "ELG" proofmark) - so I'm pretty sure that a new forend will have to be carved from scratch.

I hope you still have the forend iron, because if you don't, your chances of finding one are between slim & none.

Pisgah,
Turns out that was an excellent suggestion; the gun shows markings "T? Dumoulin
& Co "on the left side of the receiver and model 1000 or 1009 on the right side and on the barrel shows "?WE Damascus Belgium"
Don't know where "Darren" came from.any other ideas or suggestions will be appreciated

Pete44ru,
Turns out it is a Dumoulin, not a Darren,. And I don't have the metal for the forearm. I had an old forearm on hand and put it up against the Dumoulin and it appears that a regular metal is about 2/3 taller. I'll continue to look for a while and if I strike out on finding one, I'm a machinist so I can make one.
Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

IIRC, Dumoulin is/was a Belgian shotgun maker

Some Dumoulin's had Remington 1888-stlye curved hammers
