Is there any recommendations to make a grip from some of wood and etc.
Who is recommended to discuss options on a Custom Ruger Grip?
He saved these for a reason.
Thanks

The top two pieces are obviously wood but is the bottom piece mammoth or mastodon? IF so, i am curious how itr works with tools. I have worked and made grips from walrus ivory, hippo tusk and elephant ivory but never either of the extinct large animals.

Unfortunately I have no idea what or where he got these. I don’t see any of those inside markings that shows with elephant. It’s cut in 1/3rds, which I am wondering if he did this on purpose?
Any ideas?

If there are no Schreger lines then I assume it is either the mastodon or mammoth. Not seeing a ruler next to them for size information as far as width goes it is kind of tough to tell but a person should be able to get a set of grips from each piece if they are 4" long m/l. When I start with sheep horns they are shaped like that and by careful splitting and then milling flat you can usually get panels thick and wide enough for panels. Walrus ahs a totally different color core section so I know it is not that and the shape is wrong for hippo tusks.

Similar break down into sections of sheep horn for grip panels. You just have to look at each piece that comes off the section with the bigger center void and figure the best way utilize the section.

Chigsgrips.com, Chad does great work and a pleasure to work with.

Above,, I mentioned Zane Thompson.

Well, my feeble mind forgot the fact that Robb here,, is also now making grips. While I haven't physically seen his work,, I can say from all I know about him & his enjoyment of woodworking,, AND a love of SA handguns,, I have no doubt his grips are top quality!!

Mastodon and Mammoth do have schreger lines; they are at a different angle than elephant. The ends may need to be polished up a little for the lines to be visible.

I've been wondering why no one (other than Contender) had suggested our Forum brother: Robb Barnes.

Thank you guys, I appreciate the comments but I like working just off referrals and word of mouth. That means people only hear of my grip work from folks who have used and seen the work. No website, Facebook page or Instagram are to be found for my grip work. The last thing I would want would to be have a 5 year backlog like Rob Rowen does. I am too old for that! :) I only share pictures here if it may help answer questions about grips or if it something unique that I think folks might enjoy, not to solicit work.
