Ruger 96/22 magnum with heavy Clark barrel. Ruger stock with rubber butt pad added. Instead removing the carbine forend cut, I used Bondo to shape it. New receiver securing screw and barrel tensioner installed. Painted with Rust-O-leum stone paint and several coats of matte clear.
Sold it to the range officer for the local police range. He uses it for vermin control. Ground squirrels blown up by 2000 fps hollowpoints.

If you have any more 96/22 mag or lr to sale let me know I would like to have one to take out critters as well. Good looking rig also you did a great job.

Sorry but they all went with the gun. If you want to see some detailed pictures of the stock work up, send me your mail address and I'll send em along.
Luckily Clark will cut the extra extractor cut in the barrel for you. Really nice accurate barrels. I was impressed.

I sent the trigger group off to Bill Springfield for a trigger job. It was light enough but creepy+overtravel.
If you do some research on www.rimfirecentral.com you can scare up a guy who really does do a good job on these triggers. They are a different breed of cat from your standard 1022.

Not sure why Ruger dropped the 96/22M, but it was a mistake. I guess not enough folks live in the country any more to need a lot of utility rifles. A NYS apple farmer/log broker friend keeps one in the truck: he calls it his "Dispatcher."

I'd love to have a 96 in .357 mag. Ruger is stuck on .44 mag.
