My neighbor has a herd of cows, the grass was greener on my side of the fence. I tried to “shoo” them back, but nooo they attacked me! It is ok, they only grazed me! :shock: :oops: :lol:

When we still had our "watch bull" a county deputy pulled in the lane to use our pistol range. When Josiah the bull stopped him the guy got the bright idea that lights and siren would scare the animal enough to make it get out of the way. Unfortunately for him all the act did was anger 3/4 of a ton of mean meat and muscle.

We got "grazed" by some errant cattle last summer. Owner had good insurance--4 hours in the soybean field cost them $2500.
Lots of folks are pretty casual about fence maintenance and keeping livestock contained. I'm a stickler and go above and beyond to make sure this doesn't happen. North MO has a lot of non-resident/recreational landowners who don't feel a need to have fences. MO has fence laws that require at least the appearance of a "legal fence" and I've used these fence laws more than once to require neighbors to erect and maintain a legal fence.

told me he'd be right back. I hung out and in about 10 minutes heard the backhoe approaching. To my
surprise he also had is 30 06 the dropped that thing and picked it up with the backhoe.

I used to scare livestock back into the fences in a rural county...... I shot the livestock with .22 ratshot to sting them really well... after a while, i would imitate the sound of a .22 pistol and the cows would hightail it back into the pasture!! Ahhh, the good old days.

I have found, rather than try to herd or chase animals, it is far easier to get a metal bucket of sweet feed, and let them see it. They will almost trample you getting back into the pasture they belong in!
