Christmas shopping from my couch

I generally dislike shopping but I am spending a lot without even leaving the house. I’m not sure that’s a good thing although I’m getting it done in time to allow for shipping hopefully. Other than one store pickup where they have curbside delivery, chances are I won’t even get into a store to Christmas shop this year.

It ALWAYS sounds like a good idea to not go into the stores for Christmas.

We quite "doing Christmas" about 1986. To us, it is/was a matter of you know what
that person needs or wants, so you get it for them. You don't wait for a day on the
calendar.

Standard greeting is "Happy Christmas, Merry New Year, and a partridge in a pair
of trees."

Not only do you get it for them MUCH closer to when it is needed, you may even
get it at better prices. :wink:

Rather than everyone buying something for everyone we draw names (secret Santa kind of thing). We set a $50.00 limit on the gift. It is posted online, through some program, so the person you get also posts "ideas". No one sees anyone else. No idea HOW it works but it does. This year it will be shipped/mailed to each recipient. Of course the "little ones" get buried in stuff from everyone. Thank you Amazon! The wife and I are going to give each other a present. . . .a new back porch.

Open. That way I can sit my shooting table on it and use my air rifle in the back yard. Not my Red Ryder, my .22 cal single shot Ruger.

a gun barrel out of. Got fields, the ones behind the house has no wood chucks left :D

I put a new window in our bathroom this summer , when i was finished my wife told me flat out she had better NOT see any .22 size holes in the screen or I would be in big trouble ( window faces my shooting area ) which wouldn't be so bad but the screen is built in can't be removed

One Yuletide season years ago I was walking to my car after visiting the local mall, a woman saw me and asked me where I was parked. Those were the Good Old Days, that mall has lost 2 of its 4 anchor stores. Yuletide 1960 my mother took me to Macy's at Herald Square, after an hour I said "Let's get out of here."

Since March, we’ve ordered more food and just about everything online, yet our spending has gone down by about 30 percent. I think because ordering online, you don’t buy extra, spur of the moment doo-dads and trinkets.

However, we’ve placed a lot of orders this past couple weeks for holiday stuff, and many orders have been delayed, and several orders lost all together. It’s easy enough to cancel them, and we don’t get charged, but it is up to us to keep track of all of them.

Delays from Amazon, Wal Mart, and yes, MidwayUSA. I ordered some small parts and a magazine from Midway. It was supposed to arrive Monday. But now it looks like Thursday.

Ordered a present through Amazon. They said it would be here on the 3rd. It showed up on the front porch this afternoon. I ordered it on the 1st.

Yep, in Montana when I was a kid it was the Montgomery Wards catalog or Sears wish book for toys. I remember saving up for a 2 man pup tent in blaze orange. Man I got of mileage from that tent! Wards had lots of camping gear. Weren't their guns and gear branded Western Field?

I feel like a delivery center here. Besides the stuff we have ordered, my daughter has been shipping her orders here since she will be down for Christmas. It’s hard to keep track. I have a pile of boxes in the garage waiting to be broken down to put in recycling. I can’t imagine what it’s like at an Amazon warehouse.

I do my "Christmas" shopping throughout the year and present it to them at Christmas. I found a long time ago I prefer practical gifts .
This year I am continuing my tradition of giving sleds to families with school age children. Years ago I read in one my mother's women's magazines that:
"Giving your kid a sled for Christmas will sweep every snowflake from the sky for the next six weeks."
So I buy old sleds, fix them up when needed-usually a wire brush then paint on the metal.
