Back in 2009 while in Cody I had the chance to be at the college Championship Redeo event. I sort of got hook and have tried to attend at least one good size event each year since. Before traveling to Wyoming this year a Friend was tell me about Chris LeDoux. I had heard of him but really didn't know much about his life and times. The town of Kaycee his home has a bronze of him bigger than life, this thing must be 20 feet high and 30 feet long. Reading his Bio the Man was larger than life. I you ever find yourself within a 100 miles of this town you will not be disappointed to stop by for a visit. The museum across the street, Hoofprints of the Past, is well worth the 5 bucks to have a look around. And the Taylor's Invasion Bar has a darn good hamburger. Check out the link below he had quite the impressive run in life.

About two miles away from me in Big Horn, Wyoming is the "Just LeDoux It Saloon & Steak Out" bar & grill. I understand there's another one in Henderson, Nevada. They're named after a line in the Garth Brooks song Good Ride Cowboy which was written about- and dedicated to- his good friend Chris. There are also wine and spirits bearing the name. I've met a lot of folks who knew Chris, including some who rode against him, and I've yet to hear anything negative about the man, just that he was a great rider and excellent musician.

Funny, I just yesterday uploaded some old Chris Ledoux albums to iTunes. Listened to hair trigger Colt 44 on the way to church this morning..

The rodeo hall of fame in Colorado Springs has his name on the plaques inside. I remember seeing it in the late 90s and thinking it was cool.

Been a ledoux fan since mid '70's, but never stopped by kaycee, boss dident like sidetrips and unnecessary stops delivering to point b and back, but dint stop me thinking about it, or feedin another disc in the dash.
I am a lover of the other side of the hill

So I have been sitting here playing his songs on youtube listening to them. Good stuff.

As much as Garth brooks put him on the nationwide map, his songs took a strong downturn at that point. His earlier songs before everyone knew who he was were by far of his best.

Saw him in person twice. I still have the first cassette tape of his that I bought in 1978. My nephew was on the Casper Wyoming rodeo team with his son Ned
great memories from his songs
