My gunsmith has a Ruger .357 Magnum, un-altered three screw, 6 1/2" Blackhawk on consignmnet. All, seemingly, original parts except grips, which while handsome, look to be Ahrends stabilized wood, the checkered fleur de lis pattern. Gun shows a little wear, as good, or maybe better, finish that one would expect from a gun of that age.

Asking price is $675. I don't see that much in the gun. Been there awhile, and I'm thinking maybe $450~$475, maybe up to $500 offer on the gun. Am I in a reasonable ballpark figure? Or would you think I was low-balling him?

For me sounds high. I've got 5 or 6 old model 357 and do not think I payed over 350ish. Even have a 41 magnum 3 screw. Mine are just shooters,not collectors. But you see them on GB all the time for that and more. If you like it get it,if not you will always wish you did.

I have recently bought 2 at $300 and one at $450 that came original but included a boxed mr3db frame and trigger. I have seen a couple more recently under $400 but I really don't need anymore unless its a flattop.

$500 is too much for an XR3-RED gun with visable finish wear and replacement grips.
$675 is totaly out of the question.

Based on the condition you described, and assuming it's not a flat-top. I'd offer $400. I wouldn't be too concerned about this being a "low ball" offer any more than they're concerned about their "high ball" asking price. Everything's negotiable, particularly after the fact it's been setting on the shelf awhile. In my opinion, speak to the man in charge and make the offer (on a not so busy week day) laying down 4-$100 bills, without saying another word .......... He probably has $300.+- in the gun, so he won't be taking a loss if he accepts your offer. Let us know the end result. Good luck !

I got this one at a local dealer a week ago for $375. Saturday there was two at a local gun show for an asking price of $600 ea. It would have to be very nice to bring that much.

I would also offer $400 and be willing to walk away. There are others out there. Keep looking.
