Changing Micro/Pocket Guns

Both MrsDoc and I carry Ruger LC9's with CT lasers, but we're going to try a couple of different Kahr's.

I ordered a new CM9 and a CW9 from Bud's tonight.

We'll see how those work for us.

Due to the position of the mag releases, we're both dropping mag's mid-string.

And you know what they say, "The loudest sound in the world is 'CLICK' during a gunfight".

I had a PM40 for a while a year or so ago, and it shot very well. It was just a little too thick for my SmartCarry system.

We'll see how the CM9 carries.

I had a similar problem with my LC9, it would drop the magazine every few shots. I sent the gun back to Ruger who replaced the firing pin and spring(?) which I'd had no problem with, and tested the gun. It still dropped the magazine when I got it back and tried it. I disassembled the gun and removed the magazine latch. It was quickly obvious that the latch part that engaged the magazine notch was poorly molded. A couple minutes work with a Dremel tool to flatten the part that engages the notch and my problem was cured. I called Ruger to tell them and they sent me a new magazine latch. The new one is better shaped and probably would work okay but I haven't installed it since the one I reshaped is working fine as is the gun. I don't know why Ruger replaced the parts they did, I never have had a light strike issue. I don't know why they didn't look at the latch since I told them of the problem and put a note in the box with the gun about the latch. Whatever, the gun has been operating perfectly for over 500 rounds now and is a great CCW gun.

Rather than spend the time and effort to get Ruger to "make them right", I'm just going to sell'em.

Too bad.

I like they way they carry and shoot.

Çheck out the walther Pps. The mag release is part of the trigger gaurd. Sounds awkward but actually works well and is ambidexterous. The m&p shield looks promising too. Good luck.
