center punching sights

Have a co-worker with a MKII with a rear sight that just slides freely in the dovetail. Figured the center punch would take care of it (asked here previously about this). Wow, those sights are hard! Granted my centerpunch is just a manual one (hammerless) but it wouldn't even make a scratch. Suggestion other than punching the upper?

you do NOT try and punch the individual sights, you "punch" the bottom slott of the guns 'dovetail'....just a few divots to raise as bit of material......

Done and problem fixed. Wouldn't have thought the sight would've been harder than the receiver material.

Red Locktite + a little dimple will hold those sights very tight.

I made the dimples, up to the owner to get them where he wants them for his use and set 'em.
I must say it's got a really nice trigger! 8)

Another option for future reference is to drill and tap the sight for a small set screw. Slide the sight where you want it tighten the set screw to push the sight up into the dovetail drop of loctite on the screw and it won't go anywhere.
