Hope this is acceptable. I am chasing accuracy issues in a (horror) post 64 model 70. I occasionally have a rough extraction and the case is marked with a bright band. The marks do not go all the way around the case, only about 1/4 of the way on opposite sides. The case head is also marked, but only in one area.

Any opinions?

Thanks, Scot[/img]

Well, it's possible you have some high pressure loads, or a headspace issue.

I start loading at the lower end of load charts, working up slowly. Often I find "mid-range" loads to be the most accurate.
Just one opinion.

I have been using a starting load. The catridge is .264 Winchester Magnum. I'm loading 54.0 grains of IMR 4350 behind a 120 grain bullet. I am starting to question the pressure, though. I will thouroghly check headspace.

Thanks for your response!
