Case hardened Single Six

Good Morning,
I'd like to add a case hardened Single Six to my collection, and was looking for advice on locating one. Model #, dealers exclusive, whatnot. I've seen them before, but can't remember their designation to help me find one. Thanks

I've never seen a single one that wasn't a custom CCH finish from one of the topnotch pistolsmiths like Hamilton Bowen, including my Super Single Six 7 1/2" .

Lipsky produced some that were case hardened sometime in the 90s. They were the "Little Vaqueros", and they had the Ivory type grips with the Eagle scrimshawed into the grips. They were 4 5/8 in barrels and were .22LR only. I don't think they made much over 250 of them. At one time I had a consecutive pair of them but they are long gone. :roll: Don't know it they made any other barrel lengths, but I think I saw some with a 5 1/2 in. bl., but I could be wrong about this.

Welcome to the Forum, Nice guns, had a few over the years, and remember that is NOT a "case hardened" finish, it is basically an inked faux finish, chemically applied.......so any aggresive or some cleaners can and will remove that finish fairly easily..............Ruger no longer offers this finish.

I'm not a big fan of Rugers Case Colored receivers...they just don't look like real case hardened. Compare them to Turnbulls real Case Hardened receivers.

NOTHING compares to Doug Turnbull's work. But, that little Vaquero is really a "slick" looking revolver.

Well. I can put up quite a few examples of Turnbulls work from the same window sill for an apples to apples comparison.. But it's apples to oranges. The price difference makes each a nice gun for what it is.

Heres one. If you do this fit it before refinishing the cylinder frame so you can get a perfect match.
