Carbon Rings on Blued Cylinders

I'll start off by saying that the Carbon Blast Rings on my Blued Cylinders doesn't bother me at in the least, it gives my Guns that certain charactor.

I'm just curious about one thing..........

If SR&Co test fires the Gun before it leaves the Facilities, why is there no evidence of any Carbon Ring on the Cylinder? You can't even tell which cylinder was fired. That was with all six of my NIB Blued Guns. Anybody have any Idea?.........................

I think they must re-blue the cylinder after it's been test fired. I have seen too many out-of-the-box new Ruger SA blued guns that had absolutely NO carbon ring whatsoever. I have also put the 1st 6 shots through a new revolver and was never able to get rid of the rings.

There just has to be some after-firing process that make's 'em look new.

A little Flitz, and a few passes with a brass brush, and they will go away.....

All of my new guns have had carbon in them. Maybe not a ring but you could tell they had been fired at least once. :D :D

The only new Gun I bought that looked fired was my P90, heck even my Mini-14 and KLCR looked un-fired..........................

Rugerhound and I have had this discussion more than once! I'm an FFL holder who has bought maybe 100 or more Ruger single actions over the last couple years. I buy and sell Rugers so I can buy more Rugers. I have not seen a single new in box stainless gun from a distributor, or from another dealer yet, (that I can remember) that hasn't had powder rings on the cylinder. The entire gun is clean, including the back of the cylinder, except for the powder rings on the front. I just bought one of my best friends a blued Bisley .45 Colt from one of my distributors, and don't remember seeing the rings. I have some old bisley flattop single sixes I know haven't been fired, and they're clean of the rings too.

Personally, I would not use Flitz on a blue gun, on a SS OK. Although Flitz will remove the carbon rings it also removes a small amount of the bluing. After several times the blue will be worn off. Lead removing cloths are even worse.
I think the manufacturers have an industrial chemical that will remove the rings, we just don't know what it is - yet.
You really don't have to remove the rings till you sell it. Just my opinion.
