I know, right? Ever since Cabela's was bought by Bass Pro, their used gun prices have skyrocketed to the point that there does not seem to any good deals.

I know some folks store their bolt guns with the bolts removed, to prevent accidents & deter theft. So, mismatched serial numbers such as you mention almost screams "STOLEN FIREARM" to me, except when it's a military surplus rifle.

As always, IMHO, FWIW, YMMV, etc., etc.
