Anybody pick one of these up yet?

http://www.cabelas.com/commemoratives-cabelas-50th-anniversary-edition-ruger-single-2.shtml

Looks like it would be something interesting to have, but a little pricey.

That's true, I've seen several single sixes around recently for $499. It's a really nice looking revolver, thats for sure.

The TALO version, IIRC, was the same gun except stainless and etched walnut grips.

I just picked mine up yesterday.

These are absolutely gorgeous pistols. Glossy bluing, vaquero type frame, perfect balance and a Cabelas emblem on the backstrap.

The pistol has a barrel liner. Not an expert but I think this is built on a Vaquero frame and the .22 liner is use.

Really?? That seems odd. I'm pretty sure the gun is on the standard single-six frame. Putting it on the vaquero frame would mean it was the same size and dimensions of the .357 and .45 vaqueros, which wouldn't make a lick of sense :?

I saw that as well. It'll take another $100 or so off for me to get past the logo bling...

You can always cash in some of your built up Cabela’s Club points. :)

A few months ago, I used the discount postcard along with some club points and saved about $145 purchasing a new Ruger!

Just sayin!

I'm with you regarding that logo.

My hope is that Cabela's ordered a truckload of them, and they'll have some left over that they'll need to liquidate.

Maybe we'll see that $100 come off, if we wait a while. :P

$400 OTD might save enough to offset the cost of either replacing the grip frame or having all them fancy scratches filled in.

BTW, I don't want anyone that has one of these to think I'm busting on them or the revolver.

Life is full of personal preferences and one of mine is a lack of gold accents on just about anything. I was thinking it had gold work on the barrel as well but after looking at the pics again, I see that's not the case.

When I first checked the 50th Anniversary Rugers at Cabelas, thought I read it was 500 unit run. I called two of their stores and both had five.

As for the barrel liner. Yes it appears to have one. Compared to two of my other Single Sixes which are a solid barrel from the rifling out. My photo in this thread is not a clear picture. There is a distinct line around just after the rifling. Even the FFL shop owner commented there was a barrel liner.

There are a few of these listed on one of the Auction sites at $549. The top is different on this model, no adjustable site and fixed blade front. Walnut grips will look much better than the black plastic.

That does not look like a barrel liner to me. Until Ruger confirms this liner, I will believe you are seeing a machining mark. There is no reason to do this.

Sorry, but a barrel liner makes NO sense whatsoever...............
