give it time.... I'm sure there are members out there that know all about these critters....
Really unique guns. The firing mechanism actually whacks the front of the cartridge, driving the primer back into the fixed firing pin.
I picked up the pistol in the case as you have pictured a few years back and the same guy also had one of the rare “rifles” or carbines. So it had to come home as well. They came with about 40 cartridges which turn out to be quite valuable.
At about $100 per shot I haven’t gotten around to shooting either one… yet! I think my gun club would frown on it as you are basically sending a flaming mini rocket down range, but there are days where no one is around and the temptation is strong. I think watching a bullet that accelerates after it leaves the barrel will be so cool to watch.

Long video they actually shoot gyrojet guns. Worth watching for sure.
I remember being at an auction maybe 15-20 years ago and they sold a Gyrojet for decent money. It came with a few rounds of ammo.

Ironic how something nobody wanted when it was available, is now highly sought after and coveted...
I have heard of the firearm a few times including here in the past. Interesting looking and one of those fun to see and learn about!
In reality the Gyro Jet failed for a number of reasons and was doomed before it was ever marketed.
It never was cheap despite being made of stamped sheet metal.
The ammo price was way to high.
The Bore had no rifling and the bullets did not spin all that well meaning the accuracy was very poor.
And last but not least the bullets started out so slow it made the handgun practically non-lethal. In other words being a rocket bullet it took time for the bullet to achieve full velocity making them useless in a handgun.
Collectors do pay big bucks for these pistols and also for the ammo which of course is no longer even made making the gun too expensive to even shoot today if you happened to have one in your collection.
I wonder if there would be a way to reload the ammo?
