Burris MTAC 1-4x 24 Scope Mounting on Mini 30

Hello folks, considering adding a Burris MTAC 1-4x 24 Scope to my mini 30 and wanted to ask if anyone has any experience in mounting that glass to the mini 14 or mini 30.

I'd like to know if it's best to use the integral scope mounts or to mount on the included picatanny rail mount. I think the scope may have some issues clearing the rear sight, so that's why I'm reaching out here to see if anyone has experience with this beast.

I mounted a Bushnell 1x-4x 24mm on one of my Mini 30s using the milled scope bases (and 30mm rings of course)... the rear power ring sat just behind the rear sight.

Thanks! 2 questions, do you find that to be a bit far back? Also, I've heard the factory rings like to loosen up a bit after a few outings. Is that true?

Scope position depends on your shooting style, for me it's not too far back.

My rings stay tight, they are all steel so you can torque them plenty snug.

In my experience, the factory rings will sometimes "loosen up", sometimes not, depending on the individual gun. If you look at enough Mini's you'll begin to see that the reciever cuts where the rings attach can vary somewhat between one gun and another.
That being the case, about all I can say to your question is try it and see.

My own 582-series came D&T'd for the rail, but just from looking at it while mounted on the rifle, it looks like it would need an awfully-short set of rings in order to keep the scope low enough for a proper cheek weld.

Gun porn! Love it. It is huge on the rifle though. Kind of makes me want to reconsider an Aimpoint PRO.

The last red dot I had was a smallish Vortex SPARC II but I found I didn't like the parallax error in that "parallax free" device.

Yeah... that scope lives on one of my ARs now... the Mini has a 1" 1.5x-5x on it now.
