About two years ago I purchased a Ruger three screw single six with adjustable sites. I cleaned her up and put her in the safe. It was only one of several like Rugers in my collection and I only got around to shooting her yesterday. Found out that someone had "polished" out two chambers to the point that every shell fired in those two chambers of the cylinder splits and extracts only with some difficulty.

Anybody here know if this older, three screw cylinder is interchangeable with the new model cylinders?

Obviously much too late to come back on the dealer and this was missed in initial examination and cleaning.

What a bummer!

well, as I noted in your 'other' post, you can still save that cylinder, by having it rechambered to a 22 magnum, just run a finishing 22 mag reamer through it...most any GOOD gunsmith should be able to do this for you, then go ahead and try and find another 22 caliber cylinder, based on the over-all length of the cylinder you have, save some time, effort......being the gun has adjustable sights, I'm pretty certain it has the later, larger bore diameter for a '22 magnum'...sell it off, trade it, swap it out, whatever...folks are always looking for a'spare' cylinder.

Jim, I will keep you in mind when/if I find a replacement cyl. I wouldn't want to sell the one I have until I am able to replace it.

Durn,
Took a kid I mentor to the dirt track sprint races today and missed those in the classifieds. (didn't get in until about 11:00 p.m.) Thanks for the heads-up, though.

still looking.

measured the cylinder that came with the single six and it is 1.6125"

How much either way can I go?
