bulletproof armadillos

A man was supposedly injured when a .38 round bounced off an armadillo and struck him. No armadillo was found. I call BS. I dispatched one of these critters with my LCP.

22lr is more than enough for a 'dilla. Pure, unadulterated BS that a 38 bounced.

Passed through and ricocheted? Maybe.

What more than likely happened, was the bullet bounced off a rock and came back at him.. But I'm not buying the dilla thing.. I've killed them with a .22lr so I know better.

I concur with toysoldier, cause I killed the one and only armadillo on my property with my LCP also!

I used to squirrel hunt with my Marlin 39a with cb long cartridges (quieter than a suppressed 22 long rifle-but required getting real close ) I killed a bunch of dillars with that combo but it required getting close and good bullet placement.

Why are people killing armadillos?

Are they a problem?

They seem to be beneficial, other than some digging issues.

It seems like it's easy to "deflect" them or encourage them to depart.

They are a problem when they ruin your lawn buy digging it up and leaving large holes all over the place.
I use a 12ga #4 shot since it is difficult to properly aim a 22 in the dark when they are out ravaging my lawn.

Dillars are beneficial in that they dig up yellow jacket nests and eat the larvae, but they leave large holes that will mess up a ankle if you step in it and if you have livestock broken limbs can result.
