I've got an Alaskan in 44 mag. for a backup while hunting NW Montana. Thinking about stoking it w/ BB's +P+ 340gr. load. These rounds have a longer COL which the SRH is supposed to be able to handle.I figured velocity to be apprx. 1250 fps ( -15%) Anybody have any experience w/ these loads ? Thanks

Here's the load :

No experience w/ the .44 mag but I have an Alaskan in .454 and velocity w/ heavy bullets run 250-300fps below what you get out of a 7.5" barrel. I would guess you'd be closer to 1100fps which is definitely enough.

I use the comparable BB round in my BH .41 Mag, it's a stout cartridge to be sure. My BH handles it well, I'm sure an Alaskan would have no problems with it at all.
