Barbara & I are looking for some time away. September 22 through October 18 is the window. We are thinking New England. Any suggestions? I've had Maine on my mind for some time. Pulled the name Bucks Harbor out of thin air [Bing Maps]. Also like to surf fish. Thanks guys.

Love that Lobster Bisque...

Check out Booth Bay too then, and compare. Wife was there yrs ago. Billy Joel has a place there. The surf fishing. Find a web forum for fishing that particular state. Contact the state's website for info. I've not surf fished north of Assateague.

Any trip to Maine will require frequent stops at a "Lobster Pound".

Maine over Cape Cod any day for me. There are more REAL people in Maine and not as expensive. Beside they have the Kittery Trading Post in Maine !

My wife and I try to scroung up enough money each year to spend a few night in Maine. Been to a lot of places but our favorite is the Ogunquit area. End of Sept. is good because its a lot quieter and the motel fees have lowered. We stay in a place looking out on Ogunquit beach and don't travel too far from there. Perkins Cove is nice and the Marginal Way, a foot pat between Perkins cove and Ogunquit beach is very nice. Lots of little side roads that end up in interesting, hidden places between Kittery and Wells. The "Fishermans Catch" at Wells Harbor is rustic but our favorite place to eat seafood. The "Cafe Amore" on the way down to Perkins cove is Wonderfull for breakfast. Like Ruger 168 said You gotta check out Kittery Trading Post when your in the area. If you get up to Wiscasset, check out "Reds Eats" on Rt. 1, a little take out near the bridge.

And I am not a REAL PERSON?  As I said in my previous post, all the tourist have left by that time. Prices then drop to normal levels.

Not a good time of year to surf fish that far north, the schools of stripers and blues should be moving south by then, perhaps the Cape would be better fishing. I know thats the time of year Montauk gets hot for surf fishing. Perhaps you might enjoy a New England cruise. the wife and I do one every year around the first week or so of october, they stop at the popular ports, the shore excursions show you the local sites of interest, and the food and entertainment are great.

I was thinking that. I've caught blues at Avon in November & stripers in December. A cruise is out, I suffer from motion sickness.

By all means visit Kittery Trading Post. Go upstairs to the firearms dept. I couldn't believe it.
My family and I loved our trip up to the New England states. We hope to go back soon.
