That’s pretty funny. I grew up in Alabama and can certainly relate to that. I have mostly lost my Southern accent over the years, but it will creep out when I visit family and friends back home. One of my funny Southern accent memories was in my high school days. Of course, most of my teachers and classmates had accents of varying degrees, some more, some less. I don’t think I can explain this very well. I wish I had a video or recording.
It was listening to my teachers and classmates with deep Southern speech in language classes. French or German heavily tainted by Dixie. Entertaining yet weird.

In 1960 Yosemite my close friend and work partner was jewish. We were assigned to some dirty job. I said. joe what are you doing here? Every other jew I met was some professional and dont have to do dirty work like us.
How come ? They are "professionals" because no one will hire us!
