Brazil sinkholes!

The no roof thing is weird. If you scroll to some other photos there are roofs on houses.
My guess is the houses were condemned or the owners see the writing on the wall and they are moving or selling what they can before it’s swallowed up.

I'm not certain, but aren't most caused by over pumping water lowering the water table, like in Florida?
Wonder what the cause is in their area?
Down here pumping out groundwater seems to be the culprit. My neighborhood has LOTS of wells and B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L lawns someday these fools will rue the day they wanted lush grass.

My guess on the roof situation. The houses are condemned and the roofing materials are easily removed and can be used for your new abode, or by light fingered neighbors to repair their roofs.
Whereas the concrete block walls are more easily replaced than reclaimed and reused.

I'm also thinking the lack of roofs on the houses in the first picture is because the houses are being taken down or at least the roofs.... that is really the only logical answer to what I see.
Here is a closer view...note the one house in the upper left still has a metal roof on it. Metal roofs are easy to take off and put back on.

I bet the others were metal too. Road does not look real good right where it is fenced off at the end... I'm suspecting they are predicting a lot of those are going to fall into the pit at one time.
