Bowie knive

Anybody know about how old this knive is and its value

I’m not sure if there’s any relation, but I have a Western skinner knife my dad bought for me over forty years ago from Western Auto. I think I costed about $15 back then, and I still have it.

The brand name Western is very old. It was prolific in the sixties and seventies when I drooled over them, but they existed many decades before. In their day, in price and quality, I'd put them with Buck.

I think the above one is a later model, as it has laminated scales. Everybody has their own idea of value, as obvious by the many un-sold ones on ebay and elsewhere. I think this one is in the 150-175 range.

In later years, under different owner(s), they faded away.

One lives in my truck and it's field dressed many deer..

I'd put the value at the lower end of the range due to condition. Most on E-bay are languishing due to lack of interest. I'd say whatever value someone is willing to pay for a good working quality Bowie knife!

Collected and sold Bowie knives for the last 20 years. Had some that were made in US, China, Pakistan, England, France, etc. Seeing the US made, both in quality and re-sale value, higher than other countries.

Based on current condition and age for the limited pictures, but made in US, these would probably be near the lower end. If this was restored professionally, for example, cleaning up the steel, re-sharpening, might go a little higher (and if a box is available). Unfortunately, new Western knives are made in Asia.

I remeamber when I was a kid the local K-Mart had those in a display case. I thought it was cool but knew I didn't have any need for a knife that big.
