Bottom Blocks Interchange?

Does anyone know if the Mark II and Mark III bottom blocks are interchangeable? They look the same from what I can see. I know the magazines are different but I am just interested in the bottom block like this one:

Click on "Reviews" right below the picture, and it says they will fit the MK II or MK III.

I would guess that they will start sending the all black ones when they run out of the red. Now if they just had some of the black and silver bottoms.................

There was a thread posted in this forum recently regarding the colors. I think it had to do with dates of manufacture. Do a little searching, I'm sure you can find it.

I understand the colors. My point is that I would like to get some black and silver bottoms so that I could 'upgrade' current MKII magazines to match my early MKII grip logos.

Not too sure how that works since when I bought my NEW MK III it came with one 'red' bottomed and one 'black' bottomed magazine.

I never paid much attention to the bottoms before you brought this subject up.

Now you've got me thinking. I might try to find some black/silver and red/ silver bottoms. If I find some black/silver I'll let you know.

I don't care for the all black ones, must be a cost cutting effort by Ruger.

So is silver. All that then is needed is a very steady hand.

Well I checked some more and I see a progression of cheapness. The silver on the black and silver bottoms appears to be a plastic 'chrome'. On the later red and silver bottoms it looks to be plain silver paint. I don't have any, but I understand that the new MKII magazines are just black plastic with no color of any kind similar to the 22/45 magazines.

I'm sure none of this affects the function but I think it's clear why the new Ruger products are driving up the prices of the older products.
