I just ordered some cast bullets from Penn Bullets http://www.pennbullets.com/ based on the advice of WESHOOT2.
Haven't tried 'em out yet but the folks were nice to deal with on the phone and had the bullets to me less than a week from when I called.

Not much, some refer to cast as Boolits and Jacketed or plated as Bullets, The precision bullets that I shot were cast with a hard molly coating, so your guess is as good as mine on what to call them, they were cheap, shot well in my Glock factory Barrel, So with the Precision , you get a cheap cast bullet without any leading that can be shot in Glocks, there site will try to get you to order in lots of 2000.

Okay; crazy me, but I have about seventyfive different bullet bins stacked on my main bench (since I sold off most of the 45 Colt stuff), and the different bullets in them are made from all sorts of stuff.
But they're all bullets.......

Nu-uh; them balls is loaded in to pistol cartridge cases, and I don't have or own ANY black powder. That stuff is dangerous.

Hi,
Most of the round balls rolling around on my bench are too small to get good neck tension in cartridges, and I can't patch 'em up enough to use in a front stuffer, so I just pour 'em into shotshells.
Seems to work...

I still don't understand the "logic" of the term "Boolits." It strikes me as the same sort of cutesy stuff as calling a car a "cage" or a small child an "ankle biter" or "rug rat." I guess, if it keeps 'em happy...

I spent a little time poking around the Internet, and can find no commercial reference to "boolits". Lots of references to "cast bullets," "jacketed bullets," "plated bullets," and so on, but no commercial references to "boolits." I can only conclude, as I did before, that "boolits" is no more than an inside joke designed to confuse outsiders. I even have a Lyman reloading manual for cast bullets, which makes no reference to "boolits." Thus, I refuse to use the term and consider it to be foolishness.

Top end .357 over a max charges of 2400 in excess of 1400fps and no leading. 30-30 cartridges at 2100fps with my lube being 1# of beeswax and 1 tbsp of vaseline....no leading.
In handguns, once all of my free jacketed bullets are exhausted, I'll shoot nothing but lead. It's dirt cheap, when I'm at the range during the week I get a bucket full of lead from the berm and melt the stuff down and clean it up, and add a little tin. A hundred pounds will last me about 6 months of shooting
Most leading problems stem from one of 3 things: Improperly sized bullets (this includes inadequately belled cases shaving the lead down in size), hardness that doesn't match the pressure being used to push the bullet, and constrictions either in the bore (in a Smith where the barrel is screwed into the frame) or in one or more chambers. My service 6 had ONE of the chambers smaller than the bore....once reamed out the gun has never had problems leading.
Don't write off lead Jimbo. It's an extraordinarily cheap way to increase your shooting volume.

But what, pray tell, about Hornady's swaged lead bullets, unjacketed as they are? And what about the millions of commercially cast lead bullets, undoubtedly made by automated machinery? Those would not appear to fit into either of castboolits' neat categories. I still think "boolits" is no more than cutesy slang.
