Doc,you have exposed us to many beautiful pictures. This Bobwhite is the most beautiful, bar none!!!!! :D

great pic! I won't say they are prettier than our state bird, the California quail, but that Bob is one handsome quail! It looks more like the ones I've seen in Mexico and Guatemala than the ones I've shot in Kansas and OK--redder breast color.

GREAT PICS ,I love Bob white quail I can remember as a small boy ,my Dad would anwser their call and they would anwser back .Don't see them much anymore around here but we do have a few whiper wills and at night when one gets to calling I anwser him and he anwsers me back I think thats so cool .

Great picture Doc!!!
We have not had Quail in huntable numbers up here since the blizzards of 78-79, it also put a real damper on the Pheasant population also.

Hey TA,
In the 50s they didn't have a season for Quail in Ohio. So when Pheasant and rabbit hunting a Covy would jump in front/around me they would just scare the crap out of me.
Our Airpark is called Covy Trails due to all the quail around when it was developed. Not anymore the Fireants took care of that  I really like the Bobwhite.

Jim, I can remember that!! :D When my grandpa took me rabbit hunting
the first time I was about seven and we flushed a covey and I came off the ground about two feet!!! scared the crap out of me.

Those were the days for sure! You would ALWAYS jump a half dozen Pheasants at least in a days hunt!! not anymore, :( :(

Doc another great picture. As a kid, about the age of 12 or 13, my older brother used to take me quail hunting. They are about some of the finest eating you can get. The picture that you took was of the Male, or Cock. The Female will have yellow or tan where the Male has white on his head.
