Dang about every other time you try to hit enter you get the dreaded "Board Disabled" notice; When you get back on and check, you discover you have Two or Three "BOTS" cruising the forum (yahoo, msn, bing, etc etc) I wonder if they use so much band width it locks out others.

How do you know they are on here?

I don't know how to view what is surfing this board.

Over on another board there is a sidebar list of all the bots and spiders on there board, and it usually runs in the 300 - 400 range.

Myron

Edit - Now I see it at the bottom of the page, and it listed Yahoo as the only bot.
I'll guarantee you there are all the search engines and advertising bots scanning, as well as the NSA, etc.

Myron, Scroll down to the bottom of ANY message or of the Lounge and guess what; There is a section called:
"WHO IS ON LINE"
right now: Users browsing this forum: Colonialgirl, jimbo1096, LGC42, speedsixman, Yahoo [Bot] and 2 guests

Since I spent more than a few years in programming, I believe that it would
be a comparatively simple task for the programmers(?) that built the board
software to limit the number of BOTs on at any one time. But then again,
they would have to earn their money. . . . . . . Sigh.

FYI . . . The software running this board is purchased. Administered locally,
but purchased none the less.

Read that as I'm getting frustrated as well.
Especially when it is just this board experiencing it.

B.O.B. - - A "BOT" is short for robot, which is software (not a person)
that builds an index to . . all . . of the information on the forum, so it can
be searched. Since it accesses everything on the board, it sucks a whole
lot of system resource. :)

On every board I subscribe to the ads and pop-ups have gotten so bad I installed an app called AdBlocker. All the annoying stuff is now gone and I can now browse at something like normal speed.
